The concept of stopping the action and holding that moment in time forever has always excited photographer, Merrie Asimow. That magic lured her into the world of still photography. Computer skills are essential to her approach; the digital darkroom gives her the ability to uncover, discover, and present her interpretation of an image. Merrie’s photographic style has moved away from the pure image to include artful design and combines many of her own digital techniques to give an unusual and painterly look to the photographs.
Merrie likes her audience to be thrilled by the nobility and grace of the animals in her pictures and by the unexpected and surprising details of the people and landscapes in her travel photography. She has recently begun to create surrealistic photography.
Merrie lives and works in Menlo Park, California, and travels extensively in pursuit of new photographic subjects. Always hoping that the light and the action will be aligned, she’s always ready to click the shutter and make it the moment her own.
Merrie’s work has appeared on the walls of numerous business establishments and in private collections in Los Angeles and the Bay Area.
Merries work can also be seen at Gallery 9 Los Altos and on her website.
