Mona Lisa Safai is a self-taught artist who lives and paints in Atherton, California. She works with acrylics, various mediums, and gels in an abstract minimalist style, using only palette knives, wedges, and tape to create her artwork. Mona Lisa uses color and texture as her language to convey her perspective of the world.
Her inspiration comes from the world around her; two clashing but beautiful colors on a leaf, an amazing array of awesome patterns, textures, and vibrant colors on a piece of rust, or a glorious night with just enough light coming from a lamp post to make the world barely visible. These are just a few of the many mundane and majestic things that inspire her work.
Mona Lisa earned her BS in Political Science and Legal Studies from UC Berkeley. She is a ghostwriter and freelance writer. She is a member of the Pacific Art League.
